Holiday Check In

As Christmas week marches on I continue to focus on the healthy habits I have formed over the last several years. We decorated Christmas cookies last night as a family. How nice to be able to engage in that activity with my kids without fear and anxiety about whether I would eat too much (or any at all). I discreetly read the ingredient list and nutrition information and that made it even easier. I am also making sure to keep my exercise schedule solid this week. I'm working through the mental thought process that exercise does not negate poor food choices. Instead I view exercise as my antidepressant. I feel so much better and in control when I've had a workout. Period. No excuses. Today I had a session with my trainer Nate and invited a co-worker to join me. It was really fun and I pushed myself harder knowing I had someone else there pushing her limits too. Overall I feel happy and confident this week not guilty and worried. That is huge for me. Tonight we have a Christmas party with our Life Group from church. I plan to drink wine and eat dessert and truly enjoy the time with good friends. Tomorrow is a new day and back to healthy habits.

Less Think, More Do

I have been thinking about starting a blog for years. Today is the day where I convert those thoughts into action. I will be blogging about my life as a working mother of 2 children who lost over 100 pounds 2 years ago and can't seem to get over it. I have become obsessed with helping others on their quest for better health. My hope is that by helping others I can also help myself stay sane in my efforts to maintain a healthy weight. I'm kicking off a Whole 30 on January 4th with a group of friends and family members to address the nutrition side of the equation. I have developed a love of fitness and running but struggle with the right balance when it comes to how much is too much. I will be asking a friend to join me on this blog to give her perspective as well.
